I am headed to Gaza on November 15 and will be there for a month.  My plan is to fly into Cairo and liason with my contacts on the ground to assess where the border situation is currently.  There are two borders to cross in orderto get to Gaza; The Suez Canal which leads to Rafah and then the Israeli checkpoint into Gaza. Currently both borders are closed to virtually all traffic.  We are counting on the situation changing rapidly over the next several weeks and so we will be making our way across those borders as we are allowed to do so.  I have connected with a humanitarian organization in Gaza which we will work with once we get in.

If you would like to join me on this venture I would love to have you.  This is a last minute adventure style trip to an active war zone.  It’s not for the faint of heart.  We don’t know where we will be eating, sleeping, traveling to or who we will be meeting with.  We don’t know about the state of the internet and any of this could change on a dime.  You need to be hearty, ready for adventure, in reasonably good shape and have a positive, let’s tackle anything attitude.

We will be a loosely affiliated group of travelers sharing resources, contacts and trying to take care of each other, but the bottom line is that you are on your own.  You’ll need to fund your trip, get the correct Visa, get your own flights in and out, etc.  I will assist wherever I can and we will work together as much as possible but there may be times during the trip where we split up and you will need to be ok with that.  For example, I am working on having a Press pass by this time and I may be allowed to go into certain areas where I cannot bring you.
