Once in a while while you’re traveling in a foreign land, you just want a taste of home…..  it’s not that you’re not enjoying the new culture, food, language and people….  in fact, it’s fantastic!  But…Cheeseburgers!  It’s just comforting at times to speak your own language, eat familiar food and relax.   We love traveling but it’s very difficult to constantly be speaking a different language and trying to make yourself understood, or reading a menu and not knowing what exactly you’re ordering….

There are lots of ex-pats and tourists in Southern Spain and there are a few places where they have even over run the place.   Benmadena however, it a really good mixture of English speaking people (mostly from the UK) and authentic Andulusian cutlure.   Almost everyone there speaks some English and there are Irish Pubs, Italian Pizzerias and even an American diner!

It’s also a beautiful place that is right on the beach and because it is somewhat of a tourist area, it has all of the amenities that you need within an easy walk.   We spent two days there and it was an incredibly relaxing time which “filled our tanks” with the familiar.   We highly recommend this town instead of some of the bigger tourist areas!
